A Magical Garden

Gwyn and I met Alessandro and his wife last weekend in Lucca. We were in a ceramic dishware store and he thought we looked like hikers because of my super cool little backpack from Isarfjoerde in Iceland. We asked him where to hike around Firenze and said "my garden."
After Gwyn left for Chamonix I decided I needed to do some hiking this weekend, so I asked Alessandro and he sent me two big hikes that I loaded into Outdoor Active. His hikes are long, 14k 700m yesterday and 22k 600m today. They were very scenic and both included what seemed like a little bushwacking, but not much!
Just before I got to his garden I was lucky enough to see some grapes still on the vine, I think most have been harvested by now, but these were gorgeous!

After walking around the vineyard, Alessandro's route led me to his garden where he, his wife and some friends were enjoying home-grown tomatoes and wine. I felt like I was barging in, but they were very welcoming and suprised that I had walked there 20k from Firenze.

After enjoying some wine and cheese and trying to follow the Italian conversation, Alessandro gave us a tour of his garden! He has a story about each totem, but I did not ask for a copy of his guidebook. So Allesandro I apologize for not providing your stories and context!
