Big Hikes around Firenze

Last weekend, Gwyn and I were in Lucca and met Alessandro and his wife. They have a huge "garden" in the hills near Florence. I'll tell you more about that in the next post. Anyway, Alessandro loves hiking and offered to send us some trail suggestions. After I checked in with him last week, he did just that.

Yesterday, I did a 14k hike with a 700m climb, and today it was 22k with a 600m climb. Not too shabby, considering Florence is only 50m above sea level. It's still pretty warm here, hitting around 30°C during the day. So, after tackling those big uphill stretches, I looked like I took a swim with my shirt on! Seriously though, the hikes were awesome.

While Gwyn and Elizabeth are out tackling big distances and big elevation ups/downs around Mt. Blanc, I'm glad I can cover some ground here too!
