We're gradually overcoming our jet lag, though we're not quite there yet—it'll take a few more days. Gwyn walked me to school for my 9 am class, and on the way, we picked up coffee, chai, and some baked treats. I'm so tired I can't remember the word for what I ate, oh yea, a croissant. Gwyn dropped me off, and it felt like my first day of kindergarten. Afterward, she hiked the highest hills around Firenze she could find.

In my beginner Italian class, I had to tell everyone my age, which was actually three times that of the kid next to me from Vienna. There are many international students, mostly in their twenties, learning Italian for career-related reasons. I did okay with grammar but struggled with conversation—it's a process.

Gwyn picked me up after school, and we enjoyed a nice lunch at the Piazza next to my language school. Then we headed to the Mercato Centrale and did some sightseeing, which is a constant activity in Firenze!
